Navigating Public Transportation in Prague

Transportation while studying abroad can be very confusing and intimidating when first entering your host country, but don’t let that hold you back. Prague is very good at helping you know where all the Metro stops will be. They identify them by either a Green, Red, or Yellow sign. When going underground do not forget to grab a ticket out of the Yellow kiosk machine. Before going down the escalators, you will need to validate the ticket properly. It gets stamped by the yellow boxes right before you enter the escalators. If done improperly, it will result in an 800 crown fine. The Metro stops are clearly identified on the sides of the wall, and there will always be a board helping direct you to which station you need to get to. Lastly, if the light above the door lights up and starts blinking, do not enter the metro car. The doors close fast, and you will only have to wait a couple of minutes if you missed it. You can get around Prague by tram and bus as well, but I prefer Metro for faster and more relaxed transportation.
