About the Program
You worked hard to hone those Spanish skills… now put them to use as you take class side-by-side with local students at the University of Belgrano. Designed for students at an advanced Spanish level and above, you’ll take courses alongside Argentine students for a truly integrated language experience. This program allows you to refine and cultivate your language skills while exploring a variety of subject areas, such as business, sciences, history, nutrition, design, political science, and Latin American and Argentine culture, to name just a few. An Early Start option allows you to hone your Spanish proficiency before your program starts.

Program Structure & Courses
Enroll in 0-1 language course, 2-4 integrated elective courses, and 0-2 Latin American Studies courses. Language and elective courses meet for 30-90 contact hours/2-5 credits. Most courses are 60 contact hours/3 credits. If you choose the Early Start option, you’ll enroll in an additional language course that meets for 120 contact hours/6 credits. You may earn 12-15 credits (up to 300 contact hours); if you choose the Early Start option, you may earn 18-21 credits (up to 420 contact hours).
We’ll assess your Spanish language level before your program begins to ensure that you're in the right program for you. Final course registration takes place on-site. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. To ensure that you receive credit for your coursework, have your home school pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for Argentina. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.
The University of Belgrano utilizes a 45-minute contact hour whereas the United States higher education system utilizes a 50-minute contact hour. All University of Belgrano courses represent the 45 contact hour amount and an estimated US credit calculation based on the contact hours. Each University of Belgrano transcript will include the number of hours per week and the weeks in the semester, so US universities may calculate the appropriate number of US credits for students.
Classes meet for 4 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Early Start language classes meet Monday-Friday for 25 hours per week. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays. Integrated courses run through the end of the program, while Latin American Studies courses end about 1 month before the end of the program.We’ll assess your Spanish language level before your program begins to ensure that you're in the right program for you. All CEA CAPA students studying in Buenos Aires have the option of living in apartments while abroad. Generally located in downtown Palermo or Belgrano, or Recoleta/Barrio Norte neighborhoods these apartments cater to independent, do-it-yourself students who want to experience Buenos Aires as a local apartment-dweller would. Apartments vary in age, décor and size, from studio apartments to two bedrooms. So whip up some homemade empanadas in your fully equipped kitchen, crack open your window, and watch the Argentine world unfold before your eyes.

Experience Buenos Aires’ vibrant culture while living in a homestay. CEA CAPA homestays usually have one host mom - or a couple - who loves to have international students around. For the students who want to live life abroad in a local and international environment - usually with other students - the homestay is great, because it can give you the locals' insight into the city.

Excursions
Get out and explore! Excursions are offered for most semester, year, and summer programs. Semester students are typically offered between two to three excursions and summer study students are typically offered between one to two excursions. You'll receive a calendar of excursions during orientation; here are a few day and overnight excursions we've offered in the past.
