A Glimpse into My Internship Journey in Prague, Czech Republic

In the quiet halls of the Institute for Politics and Society, a think tank in Prague, Czech Republic, I embark on another day of my internship journey. On this day, I find myself on my own, which is not common, but today is Friday. Join me as I show you a real day in my internship

Dobry Den! My name is Itati. Currently studying political science here in Prague, I feel blessed to be combining my studies with an internship. Join me as I give you a glimpse into what it's like to intern here.

First, I hop on tram #6 at I.P. Pavlova, heading towards Národn. The tram stop is just a two-minute walk from the doors of my internship. Prague's transportation system is incredibly reliable, which I love!

As the second US intern in our workspace, I navigate the day's tasks solo, embracing the solitude as an opportunity for focused work.

I'm interning at the Institute for Politics and Society. Situated at the heart of Prague, it's only about a 10-minute walk to Old Town Square.

My responsibilities often revolve around revising and writing documents that contribute to our institute's mission, which is to cultivate the Czech political and public sphere through professional and open discussion. Each word I write, each revision I make, contributes to our pursuit of understanding in the realm of international politics.

Let me take you on a quick tour of the office! This is the entrance hall, where I'm greeted with warmth and positivity as soon as I walk in.

Currently, I am working on a conference report, but my previous work has included editing documents, creating presentations, and revising professional works.

Here's the conference room where interns sit. It's spacious, and the morning sun often streams in, creating a welcoming atmosphere. I love that all interns sit together here; it feels like one big team.

Welcome to the kitchen! It's a communal space where everyone is encouraged to help themselves to tea, coffee, fruits, and treats. We even have cooking facilities, and I often enjoy my lunch here with my colleagues.

Through this photoset, I intend to capture the reality of what it’s like having an internship abroad—my tasks might vary but there is certainly a routine to follow.

Now it's time to dive into my tasks. Currently, I'm working on a conference report. It's a long-term project, but I'm happy to be learning new skills along the way. Check out our website

A city street corner with a view across to a large building

After a productive morning, it's time for lunch! With our central location, the options are endless. On this day, I opted for Bageterie Boulevard, which offers student discounts for a delicious meal.

I also must mention that the absence of the activity in the office is not a void but rather provides a space that I’ve found allows me the potential to contribute meaningfully to this internship.

Our office view is simply breathtaking. The architecture in Prague is surreal, although sometimes I try to open the window in the conference room for fresh air, but it can get too noisy!

In sharing my experience through my lens, I hope to show other students what it’s like to have an internship in Prague, and specifically showing them a day that’s quieter than the others. This all contributes to the experiences I’ve had while studying abroad in Prague and I cannot be more grateful.

As the clock strikes 5pm, it's time to call it a day. I head out of the office and catch a tram home. I hope you enjoyed this realistic glimpse into interning abroad. Thanks for tuning in!
