People study abroad for many reasons, whether it be to take a break, experience a new culture, or take classes somewhere totally different from their home. Studying abroad can be an exciting but scary process. There are a couple things one should remember while abroad to ensure a memorable and amazing experience.
First of all, remind yourself to enjoy this experience! You’ve worked hard to get here, and this is going to be something you’re going to remember for the rest of your life. How you remember it is up to you.
Second, studying abroad isn’t all rainbows and daisies as it often appears to be. It’s normal to feel homesick, lost, or frustrated. Luckily, there are always people available to talk to such as wellness counselors that can help you overcome these feelings. CEA, your university, and your friends will always be there for you!
Lastly, remember that this is temporary. Most students only study abroad for no longer than a year, and focusing on how much time you have left can be viewed in both a good or bad way. Make the most of your experience while you can and just know that you’ll always have people around to support you!
