I have the amazing opportunity to spend my study abroad semester in Aix-en-Provence in the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur in the southeastern part of France. This video is a small snapshot of my experiences here.
Every day in Aix, I walk past ornate, rustic, modern fountains of all shapes and sizes. It is hard to walk anywhere without spotting at least one fountain (if not five)! The local market offers a colorful array of fresh fruits and vegetables, delicious cheeses, fruity jams, and decorative trinkets. It is always refreshing to be able to converse with the vendors whose products are always sourced locally and to get lost in the mazes of wonders within the market.
With the Cartreize card for students under 26 years of age, which takes only about 10 minutes or less to create at the local bus station, I can travel within the region by bus for only two euros for 24 hours. This has allowed me to travel inexpensively within the region and explore the nearby city of Marseille with its beautiful port and jaw-dropping views.
Through CEA excursions, I have been able to travel to nearby villages and get a better idea of the history and culture of the region. One of my favorite experiences was our excursion to a garlic festival in Trets. We danced and laughed among locals as the scent of garlic danced around us.
