A Day in the Life in Madrid

Every morning, I like to wake up early and walk around my neighborhood—it’s my favorite way to enjoy the Madrid sun. Then, on my way back to my apartment, I stop by my favorite coffee shop around the corner and order a café con leche from my favorite barista José. After a quick chat, I head back home to meet up my roommates so we can ride the metro to class together. There’s always something interesting to see on the metro, which makes the ride even more enjoyable! My college is located in the University district of Madrid, so there are constantly other students walking through the streets or studying at a nearby coffee shop. In between classes, some friends and I go explore a new restaurant to do homework or study, which helps us meet new people. Then, after some more classes, I like to explore some more and find cool new and hip places! It’s always a win when I find a great new churrería! Finally, my favorite part of the day: siesta. After a quick nap, my roommates and I do homework together, talk about our days, and—usually—watch a movie. I try my best to make everyday feel like I’m on vacation, and in a place like Madrid, it’s not hard to make the “study” part of studying abroad in Madrid a fun experience.
