Why I Chose to Study In Paris
Lunch at La Terrasse in the 3rd arrondissement. |
I have always been fascinated by France. The language is what drew me in. I studied French during high school and it just stuck with me. I loved writing and speaking in French. And the times in class that we learned about French culture, I always left wanting to know more. I’ve never been to Europe either, so it was just perfect that I would fulfill my dream that I’ve had for so many years.
Why I Chose CEA
The end of my first week of classes at CEA! |
After deciding to study abroad in Paris, I began looking at the programs Chapman offered. I was immediately drawn to CEA after reviewing the list of courses. Mass Media and the Fashion Industry, Photography in Paris, Oenology - I mean did they write these courses up for me? It seemed amazing.
Plus, after asking around some, I only heard great things about CEA. And so I went with my gut and chose CEA Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Program in Paris, France!
Here are 5 really great things that stood out to me about CEA
Heading into class each morning with my roommate, Eli. |
1. Small class sizes
I didn’t know what to expect of my classes at Paris, France. There are small class sizes all within CEA's Study Center. And while it was almost overwhelmingly small, I started realizing how great it actually is. I’ve been going to private school my entire life and am used to professors knowing my name, and seeing familiar faces down the hallway, but this is especially comforting when being in a completely different country.
2. Individual attention
Each class is small. All professors are extremely accessible and ready to help you get the most from the study abroad experience.
3. Excursions!
CEA offers excursions that are already included in the program price. During orientation week, you can sign up for many different off-site adventures, including trips to Honfleur, Strasbourg and many other activities.
4. Course selection
Not only does CEA have a variety of programming in different countries, there are also various subject matters offered at each location. So you can really make the most of life abroad through careful choosing of place and courses.
5. Structure
CEA has great structure in place to help us succeed. Orientation week was helpful in order to get us adjusted to life in Paris. Alongside our courses, they help guide students to get familiar with transportation, food and culture through lectures, presentations and excursions. While there is the structure, there is also freedom with how you spend your free time - which is also awesome!
