This beautiful castle is surrounded by a moat.

CEA provides a few excursions throughout our semesters abroad and this Spring, CEA Paris has taken us to a couple places including Chantilly, France, which is only a 25 minute train ride from Paris. We spent the day at the Domaine de Chantilly including the château, the stables, and the gardens. The château was commissioned by Henri d’Orléans, the son on the last king of France. It is filled with many works of art and a huge library full of books. We were able to take an audio tour through the château, a stroll through the gardens, as well as watch a horse show at the stables. We also had a great lunch at the in the château. The town is named after the type of cream that it produces called Chantilly. This delicious cream is fluffy and has the perfect amount of sweetness. We were able to watch a Chantilly-making demonstration and try the oh-so-yummy treat.

A delicious lunch of fish and rice.
The whipped cream on the right is Chantilly, and is what the town in named after.

The stables and horses at Chantilly were beautiful!

We were able to explore the grounds, which are well kept, and simply enjoy the fresh air.

One great thing about going on the CEA excursions is the places we where we travel. I would not have known to go to Chantilly and would have really missed out on a special place. These excursions are also a great way to spend time with my friends that I've made here as well as to also meet new people. Excursions are a great part of studying abroad!
