Volunteering at Asoka Animal Shelter

Sometimes people who have pets make the ugly decision to abandon them to their fate. However, there are good people who give their helping hand to an animal shelter which needs all the love study abroad and internship students have to offer.

Last week our students went to ‘Asoka el Grande’ animal shelter, located from a few miles to the campus. It is a non-profit association which requests, among others, dog walkers.

Too excited to play with their new furry friends.

CEA-ers were proposed to go there to help the other volunteers, and that they did. Once thier instructions were given by the employees that showed us the facilities. Mainly there were cats and dogs, dogs needing the most attention and TLC.

Then the active part started. One dog for each student, always having in their minds that they don’t have to mix them to prevent fighting, and they went out to walk them. It could be seen dog’s happiness when they went out their cages. So happy they were that they jump for joy; even they licked them... and they soon became friends.

More than that, the guys will come back on next weeks to keep helping animals and trying to help someone who needs it.
