Well, we’ve just about made it to the end of the semester. How did this happen already?
Yes, yes, I know, a person moves forward in time at an average rate of one second per second, and that’s how I got here. Thank you for your assistance.
Amadito at another book sale! |
Finals are on their way, and my internship is wrapping up for the semester quite soon – I only have about a week left of work and then I’m done. I’m still trying to wrap my brain around it. It hasn’t felt like winter here lately so to me it’s still the beginning of November, not two weeks before the end of the semester.
Despite my initial trepidation, I’m definitely glad I took advantage of this opportunity. Because of this internship, I’ve gotten better at talking to people and I’m significantly less shy about practicing my languages with strangers. I learned a very specific vocabulary set I’m not sure I’ll use outside of this context unless I come back to continue working abroad (which might yet happen, who knows?), but new vocabulary is better than no vocabulary.
I’ve learned a lot about what it would mean to own my own business – more so, I think, than I would have learned had I taken an actual business course, which I think seem to be all theory and no practice. I’d never actually put much thought into what owning my own business might look like or be like, but now I have a more concrete idea of what to expect. This makes it so that there will be fewer surprises for me in my professional life if I do indeed decide to pursue this and that I won’t be discouraged or put off by more mundane tasks.
Last sign I made for the shop |
I worked a shift at one of the Christmas markets this past weekend for the shop, which was quite fun. I even ran into a few people I knew. All of the events I ended up participating in because of this internship were really positive experiences for me – this despite having internally dreaded the scenery shift at first.
I do wish I had gotten to read a few more books for my weekly review project, but alas, there are not enough hours in the day. Because of this internship, though, I have read a grand total of 55 books so far this year. Which is really all I wanted.
This has been Interning Adventures with Michelle. Hope you enjoyed!
