Museo Sur del Seville

Being an art student and only being enrolled in one hands on "studio" art class while I'm abroad really creates an itch to see and create something in the art world. CEA Seville teamed with a group of local artists who were interested in showing their art to the world, and needed an inexpensive avenue to do so.

Thus, the CEA building here in Seville serves as the perfect venue to do so. We have the wall space, and are frequented not only by students but community members and people interested in what CEA has to offer as a program.

The art featured in this collaborative and collective exhibition is a mixture of mediums from sculpture and painting to jewelry and metals as well.

All of the pieces remind me a little bit of home as I have taken courses beginner or upper division classes in all of the areas. One night there was a reception held to introduce the artists their various works and where they got their inspirations. This event was very engaging for the viewers, as we were given the opportunity to talk with the artist and ask them about their methods. This artist specifically used fabric and treated it and then drew on top of it in a Baroque style to finish it off. He was very informative and had lots of examples for us as students to look at. This event was by far one of my favorites that CEA here is Sevilla has hosted both a MOJO photographer and art lover. I even went home with one of his pieces!

Hanna Wessling is the Fall 2015 MOJO Photographer in Seville, Spain. She is currently a junior at California Polytechnic State University.
