Founded in 1920, Corvinus University of Budapest (CUB) is a highly respected institution specializing in business administration, economics, and the social sciences. CUB has been ranked in the top fifty schools on the Financial Times European Masters in Management list, and Corvinus Business School holds AACSB accreditation. The university hosts an average of 11,000 students annually, almost 13% of them being international, and includes undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs. Courses at Corvinus are available in four languages of instruction, including English, and all courses CEA CAPA students can take are English-taught.
Corvinus prides itself in being a humanist institution, and as a research university, it pledges to promote its faculty, students, and researchers as important contributors to the Hungarian and international scientific communities. CUB prioritizes its relationships with other institutions of higher learning around the world and sends hundreds of its own students abroad each year. The university’s main building belongs to an UNESCO Heritage Site on the Pest side of the Danube River, within walking distance of popular streets and picturesque neighborhoods.
Credit Transfer Information
Corvinus University of Budapest awards credits based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) system. CEA CAPA credit hour recommendations are based on the following conversion: 2 ECTS credits equals 1 U.S. semester credit. Credit transfer is ultimately determined by your home university. Please consult with an academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Students receive a transcript from Corvinus University of Budapest upon successful completion of the program. The transcript will reflect ECTS credits.
Accreditation
Corvinus University of Budapest (CUB) is accredited by the Hungarian Accreditation Committee which is a member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA). Corvinus Business School holds AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation, is a member of the prominent CEMS (The Global Alliance in Management Education) network, and is a member of PIM (Partnership in International Management). The CUB Business & Management program, an English language degree in the faculty of Business Administration, holds EPAS accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development.
Grading
Grade conversions from CEA CAPA partner institutions abroad to a US grading scale are determined in consultation with our School of Record and benchmarked with other peer institutions in the field.
Please note that CEA CAPA can only recommend grade conversions to students’ home institutions—it is ultimately at the discretion of the home institution to convert grades from abroad to students’ academic records.

Classroom and Information
- Experienced faculty teach all courses.
- Midterms, homework assignments, presentations, and final exams will be administered.
- Class attendance is generally mandatory and monitored by professors.
- Teaching styles in Hungary may differ from those in the U.S. Be prepared to adapt to different classroom structures and coursework expectations.
- Class size ranges between 25 and 35 students.
- Most courses are held Monday through Thursday, though some are held Fridays as well.
- Classes will be with students from diverse backgrounds (Erasmus students and other international students).

Program Structure & Courses
Enroll in 4-5 courses, taught in English. You can also enroll in an optional Hungarian language or culture course.
Each course is granted 6 ECTS, which convert to 3 US credits per course. Overall you may earn 12 -15 US credits for the full semester.
Classes generally meet Monday – Thursday. Active learning components required by courses may be scheduled any day of the week.
Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses. You will be enrolled into courses based on availability and further changes can be made during the add/drop period at the beginning of the semester. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

You will be living in a Student Residence Hotel with access to your own room with private bathroom and a small kitchenette to prep your own meals. The hotel has a restaurant onsite, two grocery stores right next to it, as well as an easy access to the city center and the university.

Share your apartment with other CEA CAPA students but get to know your Hungarian neighbors, too. You will be living in a Student dormitory located on the hilly side (Buda) of Budapest with excellent links to public transport in a brand-new student dormitory opened in 2024. Each unit consists of two double rooms with shared bathroom and refrigerator. You will share your bedroom with another CEA CAPA student or enjoy a private bedroom for a supplemental fee sharing the unit with other CEA CAPA students. Easy access to tennis courts, padel fields, running track, swimming pool, and fitness center just steps away from the dorm (additional fees apply).

Excursions
Get out and explore! Excursions are offered for most semester, year, and summer programs. Semester students are typically offered between two to three excursions and summer study students are typically offered between one to two excursions. You'll receive a calendar of excursions during orientation; here are a few day and overnight excursions we've offered in the past.

CEA CAPA Wellness Week! A week focusing on wellness and well-being. We discover together some of the coolest ways to relax and being well. Excursion to Normafa, a famous hiking resort near Budapest. Climbing to the top of Elizabeth Lookout named after empress Elizabeth to have a fantastic view of the city. Budapest is a capital of spas! We'll visit the Gellért Spa, one of the best thermal spas in Budapest and learn about thermalism and the positive effects of medicinal waters. |
