About the Program

In this program, you’ll take courses at both the CEA CAPA Prague Study Center and at our local partner institution Charles University, one of the most prestigious universities in Central Europe. Your courses at Charles University will be selected from the East and Central European Studies (ECES) offerings which include a selection of courses in the humanities, arts, social sciences and more, and all are taught in English. You’ll round out your semester with courses at the CEA CAPA Prague Center in complementary disciplines such as business, economics, communication and more. The Prague Center also offers unique courses that bring the diverse history, culture, and art of the Czech Republic to life. Take advantage of this dynamic program and earn credits towards your degree while also exploring the rich history of the Czech Republic.

Program Structure & Courses

You’ll enroll in 2 - 3 CEA CAPA courses and 2 Charles courses.

CEA CAPA courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 semester credits, Charles University courses meet for 52 contact hours/3 semester credits. Students may earn 12–15 semester credits (up to 239 contact hours) credits per semester. Classes meet at various times, Monday through Friday.

Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses. You will be enrolled into courses based on availability and further changes can be made during the add/drop period at the beginning of the semester. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Excursions

Get out and explore! Excursions are offered for most semester, year, and summer programs. Semester students are typically offered between two to three excursions and summer study students are typically offered between one to two excursions. You'll receive a calendar of excursions during orientation; here are a few day and overnight excursions we've offered in the past.

Arrival/Program Begins

Official Program Start Date. Students must arrive at the Václav Havel Airport Prague on this date in order to be eligible for airport pickup. Students will then be transferred to their assigned housing.

Orientation

Mandatory CEA CAPA Orientation will be held.

Classes Begin

Classes begin at the Study Center on this day.

Holiday

Easter Holiday. No classes will be held.

Final exams end at the Study Center.
