DESCRIPTION

This course combines the application of International Economics and International Political Economy to globalisation and economic downturns. It explores interactions between the state and markets in different technological and institutional environments. The course analyses historical and contemporary issues in the global economic order from a theoretical and applied perspective.

The course provides a comparative overview of past economic crises. Also, it covers the most important economic policies of states from the historical perspective to demonstrate their origin and significant lessons learned from their application. The role of different stages of globalisation is discussed to cover the evolution of the institutional and technological environment in which the crises occurred.

The last part of the course provides a local insight into the topics discussed in the previous parts from the perspective of the European (eurozone) economies.
