Intended for students who have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college-level French. The history of Provence is rich and old. Greeks, Gauls and Romans mingled to create a complex and unique regional culture, both Mediterranean and continental, that still reflects strongly today in the history of the region. The course approaches the history of Provence from the angle of art and architecture where the various artworks studied will serve as a basis for understanding the Provencal culture and civilization. Typically includes field studies to sites in Provence.
