DESCRIPTION
This textile design course focuses on batik and covers the techniques of wax resist, paste resist, silk painting, and the tied and shaped resist processes of Shibori. The projects are designed to instruct ways of controlling the image-making process by solving color and design problems through the manipulation of the resists and dye bath sequences. Course includes familiarization with dyes and the introduction of other fiber techniques for finishing and embellishment of the fabrics, such as quilting, sewing, etc.
