DESCRIPTION
Sustainability communication is a process of the exchange of information to attain a mutual understanding dealing with the future development of society at the core of which a sustainability vision lies. A relationship between humans and their environment is built through social discourses related to social values and norms. Media can be defined as any form of mediation, and it is not necessarily limited to technology or communication. As a form of communication, media also functions as a tool for constructing and disseminating messages, including those related to sustainability issues. This course will examine the distinctive insights offered by communication and media theory in relation to the investigation of sustainability. In addition, an examination will be conducted on how these viewpoints might contribute to developing strategic communication strategies that encourage social behavior change and enhance long-term global environmental sustainability. This course aims to understand the interconnection between media, communication, and sustainability issues. The students will be able to explain how media and communication can support the sustainable development of society that balance the environment, society, and economy while solving sustainability issues.
