DESCRIPTION

The course provides critical insights into contemporary cultural history of Central Eastern and South Eastern Europe (CEE and SEE). Besides history, perspectives of anthropology and cultural studies are explored. Seminal readings in the given research field will be discussed.

Visual and sound materials as well as two field trips are a part of this course. Overall, we will be seeking a deeper understanding based on 'history from bellow" of late state socialism and postsocialism, while giving special attention to similarities and differences within the former "socialist bloc".
