Staying Healthy and Happy Studying Abroad: My Barcelona Routine

How I Found My Balance While Studying in Barcelona

Studying abroad is both exciting and a little scary at the same time. When I first got to Barcelona, I felt totally overwhelmed because there was so much to see and do, and everything was so new to me. It took me about two weeks to really get into the groove of things and adjust to my new life here.

If you’re feeling the same way, trust me, you’re not alone. Take your time to explore the city, meet new people, and get used to your surroundings. This photoset is all about the things I did to stay healthy, both mentally and physically. I’m super excited to share these moments with you, and hopefully, they’ll inspire or help you in some way too.

One of my favorite ways to de-stress is by watching the sunset. Sitting on the beach and listening to the sound of the waves really calms my mind. It's such a simple thing, but it makes a huge difference when I’m feeling stressed.

I also love going to the park to relax. Whether I’m lying on the grass alone with the birds chirping around or enjoying a picnic with my friends, being in the park always helps me feel more relaxed. I think this is a great way to slow down and reconnect with nature while we're living in a big city.

Another thing that keeps me feeling good is hiking. I usually go on hikes once a week with a group called @wandercollectivebcn that I randomly found on Instagram. Big shoutout to this community as they are so amazing! Through their hikes, I have discovered some beautiful trails around Barcelona and met some really great friends. At first, I was a bit nervous about joining, but I’m so happy I joined this community. If you get the chance, definitely try to explore nature and meet new people. I believe you won’t regret it!

And of course, good food has the power to calm the soul. Barcelona is full of incredible food, and I always turn to my favorite, pistachio ice cream, whenever I need a little comfort.

Ice cream is needed for my mental health, for sure!

On the weekends, I love going on day trips to explore nearby cities or towns. It’s a nice way to escape the hustle of Barcelona for a bit, clear my mind, and recharge my energy. I also love going to concerts and museums because it’s fun and helps me stay creative and inspired.

These activities help me stay balanced and happy whenever I have tough days. I still have my ups and downs, but I try to embrace both the positive and the not-so-positive. Hopefully, some of these ideas can help you stay balanced too.
