Discovering All Rome Has to Offer During Weekends with My Friends

Studying abroad can feel like a rollercoaster where you are constantly moving from city to city and activity to activity. Sometimes it is important to sit back and relax by spending time in your host city.

Taking time to explore outside the city center of Rome to Giardino delle Cascate just a short metro ride away.

Rome has so much to offer and because of busy schedules during the week, having weekends in Rome is a great way to explore more the great city has to offer.

Spending Sunday afternoon with a friend trying Mr.100 Tiramisù.

Taking time to explore Rome and its beautiful nature and parks with friends, especially as the weather begins to get warmer, has been a wonderful way to recover from traveling during my study abroad semester.

The perfect spot for a picnic with friends at Villa Borghese.

Living in Rome, you can explore thousands of churches with beautiful art, sightsee the numerous historic monuments, enjoy laidback time with friends at places like the Villa Borghese or just at a friend’s apartment, go on walks to local markets, and enjoy a sweet treat like gelato from one of the many gelaterias on every street.

The interior of a tall building with many paintings and richly-carved architecture

Wandering into churches like the Church of Saint Ignatius of Loyola and seeing marvelous art everywhere you look.

These photos capture what a typical weekend spent in Rome looks like for me and my friends.

Favorite spot to watch the sunset is at Il Pincio.

From exploring new places to spending time in the sun and talking with each other, we enjoy these precious moments we have together in our host city. It is like taking a brief pause in your new home during the crazy adventure of studying abroad.
