My London Internship Abroad Experience in Sloane Square

What Interning Abroad in London’s Sloane Square Neighborhood Looks Like

In this photoset, I wanted to showcase the area of London that my internship is in and a few parts of the building that I work in.

My internship placement is at a Reformer Pilates studio in Sloane Square in Chelsea called Vita Boutique Fitness. At my internship I do a lot of client services and administrative tasks. I also help create social media content, newsletter, and leaflets to promote the company.

Sloane Square features lots of different clothing stores, coffee shops, theaters, and lots of people. The square is always bustling with shoppers, people on their work breaks, and students going to and from the nearby school.

My favorite place to sit and eat lunch.

Great nearby shopping.

In some of my photos I chose to show the exterior of the studio that I work in, and the attached buildings. They are very tall brick buildings that have a beautiful exterior. In the center of the square there is a fountain that I included a photo of, and the photo also features an iconic double decker red bus and a building under construction. Since I started my internship, there has always been a construction project going on within the square.

Another photo that I included is from a recent issue that happened in the area, and as a result there was a large firefighter presence. There seemed to have been a gas leak at a nearby store that caused all of the power to go out in Sloane Square, including at Vita. Everything and everyone ended up being okay, it was just an unexpected situation.

Chaos in the square interrupts the work day.

Some photos that are specific to my actual internship are the photo of one of the studios that has the reformers in it, and in the photo you can see the view out of the window onto the square. I also included one of me after I had my hair done at the head spa that is a part of the studio. This shows a little bit of the work environment that my internship is in and the benefits that come along with it.

There's also a photo with heart confetti that was from a Valentine's Day promotion that I did as part of my internship in order to gain more clients and attention to the studio.

There's also a cafe within the studio and I included a picture of some of the different lobes and cakes that we sell in the cafe.

I wanted this photoset to show people that not all study abroad internships are in a cubicle or only doing spreadsheets all day, but that they can be fun and colorful.
