Hi, Readers! Welcome to my Top 10 Sydney Eats post! Disclaimer: this list is not in any type of ranked order and it is mostly dessert.
1. The Local Mbassy
If you're craving something different for breakfast or dessert, check out The Local Mbassy. They have a unique twist on so many of their menu options. They have red velvet lattes, red velvet waffles and pancakes, and much more.
2. Gelato Messina Newtown
Gelato is much more common in Australia than ice cream is, so there's never a shortage of gelato shops around. Another stop on the Newtown food crawl was Gelato Messina. The shop featured tons of decadent flavors like hazelnut, chocolate fondant, and even tiramisu!
3. My Donut Box Broadway
A lot of dessert places in Australia feature Nutella and it's amazing. A popular treat I've come across at numerous spots is the Nutella filled donut, and yes; it is as good as it sounds. However, my favorite spot to pick one of these babies up is My Donut Box Broadway. If you're not that into Nutella, they have tons of other types of donuts to pick from including caramel and M&M covered.
4. Bangkok Bites
Australian food is heavily influenced by Asian culture since Asia is so close. There are numerous Asian fusion cuisine spots in Sydney ranging from Chinese, Malaysian, Japanese, and my personal favorite; Thai. Bangkok Bites is hands down the best Thai food I've tried in Sydney. CEA CAPA took us here for our food crawl through Newtown and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend the fried calamari and chicken skewers.
5. The Wedge Espresso
The Wedge Espresso is a great place to grab some savory brunch. I recommend "The Henry" or "The Breakfast Plate". They also have a great selection of coffee (try the affogato- it's coffee with a scoop of ice cream in it!),
6. Viet Food bon Bistro
This was my first time trying Vietnamese food and it was delicious. The ingredients were so fresh and the noodles and pork were cooked to perfection. The location was also a very short 5 minute walk from my accommodation at the Urbanest, which is always a plus.
7. Pancakes on the Rocks
Pancakes on the Rocks serves pancakes literally all day- and not just any pancakes, but decked out pancakes. The pancakes come topped with chocolate, strawberries, bananas, nutella, and so much more. Their chocolate pancakes are really good. So, if you're feeling breakfast for dinner, I highly suggest checking this place out (they have non-breakfast dishes, too).
9. Flying Fajita Sistas
Flying Fajita Sistas is a quaint little restaurant in nearby Glebe that serves Mexican food with a twist. I went with my friends during our first week in Sydney and while I got a taco with Southern style buttermilk chicken, some of my friends got Kangaroo tacos. The decorations and ambience along with the food are guaranteed to make it a great night out.
9. Max Brenner's
If you love chocolate as much as I do, Max Brenner's is definitely worth a visit! Everything has chocolate in it, even the drinks! They have cakes, ice cream, waffles, sundaes, and different coffees.
10. Fork & Grind
This list would be incomplete without Fork & Grind Cafe. A short walk from the CEA CAPA Sydney Center, their breakfast and friendly service is a great way to start your day. They offer a variety of wraps, donuts, egg special combos, and dozens of drinks to choose from.
