Carnaval in Barranquilla was a unique cultural experience in Colombia during my Bogotá study abroad program with CEA. I participated in foam fights and flour fights in the streets and got to see J. Balvin live in concert. The parade was the main event (and my favorite part by far). I watched from a balcony as colorful performers wearing homemade costumes paraded through the streets. They wore tribal clothes from the different districts of Colombia and performed traditional dances, including holding candles and balancing bottles on their heads. The costumes were incredible, and the nightlife was spectacular. People filled the streets and partied all night long by dancing and singing and eating traditional Colombian foods, such as arepas and empanadas. I danced in an event called "Baila la Calle" which is an event that hosts a bunch of performers and artists and is a great way to learn some Salsa dancing. I also spent some time at the beach and enjoyed the warm weather of the coast. 10/10 would go again!
