It’s hard to make a list of places I love in Aix; there are just so many!
Of all the patisseries, Weibel is definitely up there. Even though it is on the more expensive side, the swanky atmosphere makes it a great place to unwind with a treat after class.
Le Mazarin cinema is a great place to practice your language skills! This theater shows lots of international films, so you can pick between practicing listening to French dialogue, or reading French subtitles. For beginners, catching an English language film and following along with the text can be a good way to start. The theater is small, cozy, and located in the center of town.
Pizza Capri is my favorite place to grab something quick to eat, either on the way to class or after coming back to Aix late at night. The slices are huge, cheap, and satisfying.
Thrift stores are not that common in Aix, but there are lots of vintage shops. Blow-up is one of my favorites because of its laid-back and goofy atmosphere. Looking for something cheaper? Check in regularly at La Maison d’Emmaüs for the chance to snatch a great deal.
Papeterie Michel is the place to go for your back-to-school shopping needs! They have office supplies, art materials, and plenty of crafting materials as well.
When it is time to get some serious work done, head to Bibliothèque Méjanes. It’s exterior is whimsical, and its interior is spacious, quiet and well-lit.
The Park de la Torse has running trails, work out equipment, and a sports field, so it is very possible to stay fit without getting a gym membership. On lazier days, it’s a great place for people-watching, or relaxing by the creek!
