Favorite Places in Prague

PRG Fall18 Wknorp Lokal
Lokál U Bílé kuželky
Lokál is my go-to restaurant for hanging out with friends or just grabbing a cheap, delicious Czech meal. Lokál is centrally located in Prague 1 near the Charles Bridge. It’s unique for its fun and casual atmosphere as well as for its underground cave seating and a menu that offers different food options throughout the week. The underground tavern is my favorite place to sit because the rocky cave atmosphere is so unique and there’s no cell service, so every person can just relax, hang out, and not be concerned with their phones.

Petřín
Petřín is a huge park that stretches from the top of the hill in Prague 1 down to Prague 5, and it is the perfect location for a scenic walk when studying abroad in Prague. It offers many of the best views in the city as well as orchards, gardens, and vineyards spread throughout it. Its forest-like feel makes it a magical place in the fall when all the leaves turn bright yellow and red. It’s very common to see people walking their dogs here, reading, or even hammocking. Through this park is also the Petřín Lookout Tower, which is a tower one-fifth of the size of the Eiffel Tower that you can climb up and view the expanse of Prague when you reach the top. There is even a restaurant you can eat at if you walk far into the park enough.

Kofárna Café
Kofárna Café is a quaint cafe located in Prague 5 with amazing drinks and treats; I personally love it for its cheesecake. It’s my favorite cafe for doing homework because of its warm atmosphere – but especially for the fact that it has Wi-Fi and outlets. It’s a beautiful walk through the Kampa park to reach Kofárna when walking from school.
PRG Fall18 Wknorp Juicemebaby
Juice Me Baby
Juice Me Baby is a juice bar, face gym, and yoga studio, though I myself have only experienced the yoga studio aspect. I go to yoga here every week when CEA brings in a yoga instructor for study abroad students. The studio is a very positive, relaxing place to stretch and unwind the mind and body after lots of traveling and exploring. Going to yoga helps me feel grounded despite the whirlwind that study abroad can feel like, and it helps keep me feeling good mentally and physically.
PRG Fall18 Wknorp Farmersmarket
Farmers’ Market at Náplavka
This farmers’ market is an iconic weekly event in Prague, occurring along the river every Saturday morning until the afternoon. It’s so much fun to attend, and it’s a popular event for locals as well. Tents and booths are set up in a long line and provide a huge selection of food, drink, and other possibilities; from apple juice made on the spot, to cupcakes, brownies, donuts, sausages, burgers, gingerbread, and so much more. Personally, I can’t resist picking up a two-liter bottle of freshly made apple juice when I go.
