Academic life at Anglo American University (AAU) is unlike any other educational experience that I have had. The school itself is within an old palace. Beautiful rooms with crown molding, floor-length mirrors, windows, fireplaces, and chandeliers have been transformed into classrooms through the simple addition of projectors, desks, and chairs. Right behind the university, there is even a beautiful garden with lovely trees and flowers.
AAU Classroom |
Painting Class |
My favorite part of my academics at AAU are the cultural classes that I am enrolled in: Painting, Prague Art and Architecture, and Czech Language and Culture. I go on different excursions each week to places that I would never have been exposed to otherwise. We go to beautiful gardens, museums, and significant sites around the city.
Mucha's Slav Epic |
Cross Club |
Two of my favorite class experiences were viewing Mucha’s Slav Epic within Prague’s National Gallery and venturing to the grudge-art venue Cross Club to attend a concert.
Singing on the Charles Bridge |
Throughout the entire semester, my Czech Language and Culture class practiced singing folk songs and nursery rhymes every week. On the very last day of the semester, our class stood on the Charles Bridge and sang for the people walking by. I have been able to have such a unique academic experience while abroad, and I cannot imagine how different my experience in Prague would be if it were not for these great opportunities.
