It is that time of the year again where the hot cider is boiling, the spirit of Christmas is building, and holiday decorations are glistening. This year, I will experience my first Christmas abroad and each day that I walk through Grenoble I get more and more excited. There are twinkling Christmas lights throughout the city adding a new cheery sparkle to this little corner of France.
The snow is on the high peaks of the Alps and this tells us the winter months have arrived. The Rhone Alps have never looked as magical as they do now, covered in the powdery snow.
Among the beautiful scenery the holiday spirit is being spread as the Christmas markets right in the center of town add a lively new touch. You can find so many things at these markets from great foods, to traditional hot drinks, Christmas trees, and gifts for all.
The markets remain up until Christmas day and each night you can find new entertainment surrounding the stage space as there are all kinds of band performances.

I love the little markets we have here in Grenoble. They are just the best way to spread holiday cheer, and gather with the community for fun-filled nights, or a cheery day as they open at 10 am.
