CEA Interns Abroad: Cannes 2014 Recap

What happens when you combine study abroad, the French Riviera and an internship opportunity? An internship at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival!

This year, nine CEA students were selected to be part of the Festival Team, and five were selected to join Isabelle Foret, internationally-renowned wine expert, and her team.

CEA French Riviera Program Director, Kristin Kerr, gives us an inside look at what this French Riviera study abroad internship is all about. (For additional program information: http://ow.ly/xTZXs):

“Each year in May, several French Riviera students intern at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. The Festival takes place in the very heart of Cannes beginning in mid-May and lasts for 12 days. (Fun fact: The Cannes Film Festival is the second biggest media event in the world, second only to the Olympics.) French Riviera study abroad Spring students apply for the internship once they are onsite for their study abroad program.

Their assignments during the Cannes internship are very diverse and related to the fields of media, communications, event organizing, team building, writing, editing, camera work, journalism, business, marketing, and much more.  But most importantly, students are provided with a Film Festival Accreditation (Festival Badge), which allows them access to all aspects, buildings, and parts of the film festival, including movie screenings, and of course, it provides a great networking opportunity. Our Spring 2014 students can best tell you about the experience that they had, so check out their videos!” –Kristin Kerr, CEA French Riviera Program Director
