While you’re abroad you’ll have lots of free weekends to go places (Especially with the IBP program…you don’t have Friday classes!!!). Though I was nervous at first, I took a solo adventure to Córdoba for a few days before the business classes started. If you have a place that’s on your list to visit, but no one wants to go with you, GO ANYWAYS! Especially around Spain. It can be a bit nerve-racking, but it’s totally worth it!

Here’s a few pictures from my solo trip. Córdoba is simply amazing and I totally recommend it!


La Mezquita.  Oh. My. Gosh. Not enough words to describe this building! It’s a huge Mosque in Córdoba and is absolutely amazing! It’s free from 8:30-9:30am. There’s a mass from 9:30-10:00am.  And then it opens again at 10:00am to the general public costing 8€…BUT if you go to mass…you’re already in and you don’t need to buy a ticket

I took a million pictures of these pillars. There are dozens of them. So tall and beautiful! I could literally pass hours in the Mezquita! Just bring a book (and a sweater during spring…it’s a little drafty) and you’re good to go!

Even the ceilings here are worth taking pictures of! They really didn’t miss one square inch of this place in its design and class!

Now we’re at Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos.  It’s a beautiful garden with ponds and fountains and a tower you can climb to look over it all.  (Don’t forget to ask for your student discount! You’ll get an ID from the university. Bring it!)

I got lucky and that night there was also a water spectacular, so I got to go back (with my same ticket from the afternoon) and see a neat light show in the fountains and ponds.

This is the Torre de la Calahorra.  It is a museum all about Córdoba.  And a bonus? You get to climb to the top and see the whole city!

 about the cool ancient baths that the rich used to bathe in?
Well here are Los Baños del Alcázar Califal.
You get to walk through and see the remains (another view of the baths in the photo below)
