Hello and greetings from South Africa! My first weekend in South Africa began with an orientation trip, which was put on by the university. It was a short, three-day trip to Tsitsikamma Falls Adventure. This trip was so much fun - meeting other international students, trying traditional South African food, zip-lining through the Falls, and learning to drum with South African drums! I hope these photos help you vicariously enjoy the Falls.
Tsitsikamma has a beautiful lodge and spa that we
were lucky enough to walk through on our hike
The lettering is small, but this gives an idea of
what we did on this weekend trip!
We saw these little birds all weekend and the were just so sweet!
We found it extremely ironic that our drinking water was
black in real life...before the filtering process
The accommodations at Tsitsikamma. This was
a smaller room with 7 beds (4 on top and 3 on
bottom). There were probably five or six of
these smaller accommodations while there were
one or two rooms that housed 30 students.
BEWARE of the bugs. They can be big and creepy!
Some friends having fun on the drums!
The Falls!
One of the stunning views from our hike (which proved to
be more of a nature walk)
Another beautiful view from our hike!
A banana tree right in the yard of our accommodations
A traditional South African braai! Chicken, a beef sausage,
and rabbit with some slaw and a bread like casserole (I don't
really remember what it was, but I remember it being quite tasty).
If you visit South Africa, you will find that Braais are very
common...and Coke is a big product over here.
A custard pie for dessert that was super yummy!
One of the 8 ziplines in the ziplining course.
It was so beautiful and so fun!
I hope you enjoyed a little tour of Tsitsikamma Falls Adventure and the experience and fun it offers!
Till next time,
