Cultural experience in Morocco!!
Last week our students in CEA Granada could visit and experience Morocco, Africa, in first hand.
As part as their cultural and academic experience in Granada, most of them are taking courses in History of Islam or International Relations among others, and we think you always have to experience Africa at least once in your live, and Morocco is the gate to this continent, the mix of the two cultures, above and beyond the Mediterranean sea.
Our first stop was Tangier. In this International city, famous for his espionage role during the II World War, we had lunch at an association for women in social exclusion and we meet another aspect of the reality of women in a Muslim country:
A loom. In this place the women make rugs.

We also enjoy the traditional Cous cous, yummie yummie in my tummie…
We couldn´t resist and we went for a camel ride next to the sea side of Morocco. The sunset was stunning!!

We arrived to our hotel just on time for a nice warm dinner and traditional fruit dessert. Everybody went to bed early excited for the next day. On Saturday we visited Chefchaouen, a fairy tale villa in the mountains of Riff.

Everything is painted in blue, the color for the good luck
There at ChefChaouen our students had the opportunity to meet local families since we had arranged an exchange with local students. We had lunch in little groups at Moroccan homes and both, them and us, enjoyed this moment of intercultural exchange so much.
After the lunch, we had a short time to experience the local way of trading, bargaining!!!

On Sunday, we finished our trip to Morocco visiting the day after the Medina of Tetouan, an exceptionally well-preserved and complete example of this type of historic town, displaying all the features of high Andalusian culture. This medina is declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. There we visited a Moroccan traditional pharmacy and the old leather tanners as different forms of industry and trade.
