Florence provides first class education in a variety of disciplines such as business, communication, fine arts, gender studies, as well as a wide range of courses in the humanities. You can also take advantage of the Italian language courses which are offered at all levels to help hone your language skills. Learn through hands-on experience in this historic city full of sprawling vineyards, impressive architecture, and exquisite art.

Credits

Program Structure & Courses

Choose the session and course options that work best for you:
- 4-week, 1- or 2-course option in June or July, or
- 8-week June/July combo option with 2-, 3- or 4- elective or language courses.

Courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 credits. If you choose the 1-course option, you’ll earn 3 credits (up to 45 contact hours); if you choose the 2-course option, you’ll earn 6 credits (up to 90 contact hours); in the 3-course option, you may earn 9 credits (up to 135 contact hours) and in the 4-course option, you may earn 12 credits (up to 180 contact hours). 

Classes meet Monday-Thursday for 2.5-3 hours each. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled on Fridays.

Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Get out and explore! Excursions are offered for most semester, year, and summer programs. Semester students are typically offered between two to three excursions and summer study students are typically offered between one to two excursions. You'll receive a calendar of excursions during orientation; here are a few day and overnight excursions we've offered in the past.
