About the Program

Improve your language skills and learn about French culture and lifestyle in this intensive 3-credit course. Designed for students from the beginning to intermediate French language levels, this program helps you adapt to the French language, culture, and lifestyle in a short period of time. You may enroll in this two-week language program as a stand-alone study abroad experience, or add it to your semester program in Paris, Aix-en-Provence, French Alps: Grenoble, or French Riviera: Antibes as an Early Start option.

Program Structure & Courses

You'll enroll in 1 French language course and earn 3 credits (up to 45 contact hours).

Classes meet for 5 hours per day, Monday-Thursday. Active learning components required by your course may be scheduled on Fridays.

You will select your course based on your language level. It is in your best interest to have the course pre-approved by your home university before you leave for Paris. To ensure that you receive credit for the language level you place into, have your home school pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for France. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Excursions

Get out and explore! Excursions are offered for most semester, year, and summer programs. Semester students are typically offered between two to three excursions and summer study students are typically offered between one to two excursions. You'll receive a calendar of excursions during orientation; here are a few day and overnight excursions we've offered in the past.

Arrival/Program Begins

Official Program Start Date. Students must arrive at the Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) on this date in order to be eligible for airport pickup. Students will then be transferred to their assigned housing.

Orientation

Mandatory CEA Orientation will be held.

Classes Begin

Classes begin at CEA Paris Center on this day.

January 17
Classes End

This is the last day of classes at CEA Paris Center.

January 18
Program Ends/Move-Out

Official Program End Date. Students must move out of housing no later than this day.
