Navigating the Maynooth University of Ireland Website for Courses

  • Irish institutions use different terms when discussing departments, majors, courses, etc. These will be important to know when reviewing the academic options on the program: Department = Faculty; Courses/Class = Module
  • Students pre-register for modules before the semester starts and officially register once on campus.
  • CEA CAPA recommend securing academic approval of 8-10 courses prior to departing for the program. Students should take no more than 30 ECTS credits (15 US credits), which is 5 modules.
  • Click here to access the Maynooth University module guide
  • Students can select courses from three different faculties: Arts, Celtic Studies & Philosophy; Social Sciences; and Science & Engineering.
  • After selecting a subject within one of those faculties, students can view the available modules.
  • Take note of the number of credits, and in which semester the module is offered.
  • Clicking on the module name provides an overview of the module, learning outcomes, assessment information, and more.
