Program Structure & Courses

You’ll enroll in a ESSCA Chinese language course and five ESSCA business courses. You will complete two language levels of Chinese within the semester. Classes meet for 22.5–90 contact hours/1.5–3 US credits. You may earn a total of 15 US credits (up to 270 contact hours) per semester.

Language and business courses meet daily, Monday - Friday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled any day of the week.

You'll select your courses and take a language placement exam after you arrive in Shanghai and enroll in a language course based on the results. To ensure you receive credit for the language level you place into, have your home university pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for China. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.
