About the Program

Choose courses from Anglo-American University's (AAU) full curriculum: More than 100 courses, all taught in English, across a range of disciplines. You'll attend class alongside local Czech and other international students, creating a truly integrated experience. Many courses incorporate an active learning style that takes you out of the classroom and into the city, lending real-world context to lessons learned in class. AAU's five schools—Business Administration, Humanities & Social Sciences, Journalism, International Relations & Diplomacy, and Law—provide you with diverse course options to meet your academic interests. Possible thematic tracks to focus your studies include: Culture & Politics in Central Europe, Visual Arts in Central Europe, and Certificate in Central European Jewish Studies. Complement your studies at AAU with courses at the CEA Prague Center, where you’ll examine Czech culture and gain new insights into historical and contemporary life in this Central European city.

Credits

Program Structure & Courses

Each semester, you'll enroll in 1 AAU core course with a local, regional, or national focus, 2-3 AAU Elective Courses and 1-2 CEA Elective Courses (starting Fall 2021). Courses meet for 42-56 contact hours/3 credits. Semester students may earn 12-15 credits (up to 210 contact hours); academic year students may earn 24-30 credits (up to 420 contact hours).

Classes meet at various times, Monday-Friday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays.

Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Excursions

Get out and explore! Excursions are offered for most semester, year, and summer programs. Semester students are typically offered between two to three excursions and summer study students are typically offered between one to two excursions. You'll receive a calendar of excursions during orientation; here are a few day and overnight excursions we've offered in the past.
