Program Structure & Courses

Enroll in a 4-week session in June, July, or both. You'll take 1 language course at your level; intermediate and above speakers may choose up to 2 additional elective courses for an additional fee. Please note, the optional electives require a minimum enrollment to run and may not be offered each summer.

Language courses meet for a total of 60 contact hours/4 credits. Optional electives meet for 6 contact hours/.5 credits. You may earn 4-5 credits (up to 72 contact hours) per session; if you enroll in both sessions, you may earn 8-10 credits (up to 144 contact hours).

Language courses meet daily, Monday-Friday; electives meet three days per week.

You’ll take a language placement exam after you arrive in France. Course registration will take place after you receive the results of your language placement exam. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. To ensure that you receive credit for the language level you place into, have your home school pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for France. Please consult with your academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.
