Founded in 1959, the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA) was one of the first private universities created in Argentina. ITBA’s academic focus is dedicated to the teaching of interdisciplinary engineering fields and research. ITBA is a member of the prestigious Global Education Engineering Exchange (GE3).

ITBA enrolls approximately 1,650 students annually.
The main building is located in the trendy area of Puerto Madero, which represents the latest architectural trends in Buenos Aires. The university features modern facilities, computer labs,
libraries, and cultural and athletic activities to complement academics.
CEA CAPA students have access to the same facilities as Argentine students, allowing you to fully appreciate ITBA student life. By sharing the university with local and other international students, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and interact with your peers.
Credit Transfer Information
Contact hours and corresponding credits for the ITBA course were modeled after the U.S. system. Credit transfer is ultimately determined by your home university. Please consult with an academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.
Transcript Information
Students receive a transcript from Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA) upon successful completion of the program. Transcript includes the number of hours per week and the weeks so US colleges/universities may calculate the appropriate number of US credits they choose to award their students.

Grading
Grade conversions from CEA CAPA partner institutions abroad to a US grading scale are determined in consultation with our School of Record and benchmarked with other peer institutions in the field.

- Periodic exams, homework assignments, and final exams will be administered.

The city of Buenos Aires provides a stimulating environment in which to study political, cultural, and business trends in Latin America. You’ll enjoy the opportunity to gain global competency and further your academic pursuits while immersed in a city that blends its European heritage with a modern Latin American style.
Designed to explore the natural strengths of the city’s history, culture, and political environment, CEA CAPA Buenos Aires Center curriculum focuses on language, engineering, business, cultural & social studies, and international relations. Courses incorporate activities specifically designed to take the curriculum out of the classroom and into the community. Even outside of the classroom, you’re constantly encouraged to apply what you’ve learned by connecting subjects examined in class to the daily life of the host community. This ongoing, active, and reflective approach not only helps you gain a better historical and social understanding of Buenos Aires and Latin America, but also helps you develop the international cultural fluency required to communicate and function effectively in an increasingly globalized world.

Courses taught at the CEA CAPA Buenos Aires Center have been designed in conjunction with, and approved by, the University of New Haven (UNH). In addition, faculty appointments have been approved by UNH. After the successful completion of a session at the CEA CAPA Buenos Aires Center, you will receive credit for your work from UNH. Located in Connecticut, the University of New Haven is a student-focused, comprehensive university that’s fully accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). Grading
Instructors at the CEA CAPA Buenos Aires Center carefully evaluate students’ work and progress throughout the academic session. When calculating grades, instructors consider written and oral exercises, homework assignments, attendance, classroom participation, and exam performance.

Choose between the ITBA only option and CEA CAPA & ITBA Hybrid option:
- In the ITBA only option you'll enroll in one engineering/physics course.
- In the CEA CAPA & ITBA Hybrid option you'll enroll in 1 ITBA engineering/physics course and 1 CEA CAPA elective course.
Engineering course meets for 75 contact hours/5 credits and elective courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 credits. You may earn up to a total of 8 credits (up to 120 contact hours).
Classes meet 2-4 days per week, Monday-Thursday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled for Fridays.
Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. Generally located in downtown Palermo or Belgrano, or Recoleta/Barrio Norte neighborhoods these apartments cater to independent, do-it-yourself students who want to experience Buenos Aires as a local apartment-dweller would. Apartments vary in age, décor and size, from studio apartments to two bedrooms. So whip up some homemade empanadas in your fully equipped kitchen, crack open your window, and watch the Argentine world unfold before your eyes.
