About the Program
This versatile program allows you to choose courses from a range of subject areas, including biology, art history, economics, chemistry, communications, finance, and more. Semester and academic year students take courses through the CEA CAPA Seville Center, the University of Seville (USS) or Pablo de Olavide University (UPO). Classes are taught in English and Spanish for all levels of Spanish language ability. Attending class at our partner institutions alongside other international students allows you to explore diverse academic topics while engaging in local student culture on campus - all contributing to an integrated experience. Diverse course offerings allow you to earn credits toward your major and graduation requirements.

Pablo de Olavide University
Pablo de Olavide University (UPO) was founded in 1997 and has a modern 345-acre campus 50 minutes outside of Seville's city center, easily accessible by bus or train. While the university is located outside the city, its campus offers amenities and student services not often available in more centralized, urban campuses, including modern athletic, laboratory, and technical facilities.
You’ll take courses through the International Center at Pablo de Olavide; courses have been developed and are taught by professors from the university. You may enroll in Spanish language courses in addition to a wide-range of English & Spanish focused-area electives offered to the international student community. The university currently enrolls approximately 11,000 students.
The campus, faculty, and academic programs at Pablo de Olavide University provide a wonderful immersion experience. Although you will be in classes with other international students, you will witness the daily Spanish university campus life culture.
Credit Transfer Information
Pablo de Olavide University awards credits based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) system. CEA CAPA credit hour recommendations are based on the following conversion: 2 ECTS credits equals 1 U.S. semester credit. Credit transfer is ultimately determined by your home university. Please consult with an academic advisor at your home university on credit pre-approval guidelines.

Grade conversions from CEA CAPA partner institutions abroad to a US grading scale are determined in consultation with our School of Record and benchmarked with other peer institutions in the field.

- Attendance in all classes is mandatory and monitored by each professor.
- Teaching styles in Spain may differ from those in the U.S. Be prepared to adapt to your school’s classroom structures and coursework expectations.

CEA CAPA Seville Center
The CEA CAPA Seville Center is in the historic Santa Cruz neighborhood, offers a study abroad experience in a vibrant neighborhood with rich cultural significance. The Center itself, housed in a beautifully restored residential palace, includes student classrooms, study rooms, a lounge, and a tranquil outdoor patio and terrace, creating an inviting and supportive environment.
Located next to the picturesque Jardines de Murillo, a lush historical park, this charming setting offers you an inspiring space for learning and connection. Courses offered in both Spanish and English, allow you to pursue several disciplines including history, sociology, art, business, and more. Faculty integrate the entire city of Seville into the curriculum, with visits to iconic landmarks like the world’s largest Gothic cathedral and the oldest royal palace in Europe, Real Alcázar. Easily accessible to other areas of Spain and to Portugal, you can easily explore cities like Córdoba, Granada, Baelo Claudia, and Lisbon, Portugal.

Courses taught at the CEA CAPA Seville Center have been designed in conjunction with, and approved by, the University of New Haven (UNH). In addition, faculty appointments have been approved by UNH. After the successful completion of a session at the CEA CAPA Seville Center, you will receive credit for your work from UNH. Located in Connecticut, the University of New Haven is a student-focused, comprehensive university that’s fully accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The agreement between CEA CAPA and UNH follows the highest standards of good practice in education abroad and satisfies the rigorous requirements of the University's institutional accreditor, making credits earned at the CEA CAPA Seville Center easily transferable to US-accredited institutions. Grading
Professors at the CEA CAPA Seville Center will carefully evaluate your work and progress throughout their academic session. When calculating the final grade, instructors consider written and oral exercises, homework assignments, attendance, classroom participation, and exam performance.

Classroom and Information
- Classes are taught by international faculty selected by CEA CAPA and approved by UNH.
- Most faculty are bilingual (Spanish/English) and represent diverse backgrounds.
- Periodic exams, homework assignments, and final exams will be administered.
- Attendance in all classes is mandatory and monitored by each professor.
- You’ll attend class with other CEA CAPA students, not with native Spanish students.
- Teaching styles in Spain may differ from those in the U.S. Be prepared to adapt to local classroom structures and coursework expectations.
- The maximum class size for language courses is 15 students and 25 students for elective courses. These small class sizes mean personalized attention from instructors.

Enroll in 1 CEA CAPA core course and 1-3 CEA CAPA courses. You'll also choose 1-2 courses from either the University of Seville (USS) or Pablo de Olavide University (UPO).
CEA CAPA and USS courses meet for 45 contact hours/3 credits. UPO courses meet for 15-75 contact hours/1-5 credits. Semester students earn 12-15 credits (up to 225 contact hours); academic year students earn 24-30 credits (up to 450 contact hours).
Classes meet on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Active learning components required by your courses may be scheduled on Fridays. Students taking courses at UPO should expect a larger scheduling and financial commitment due to the commute to the UPO campus. In addition, UPO students are required to be flexible as course availability is subject to change. Please plan to discuss this further with an Admission Counselor or your assigned Student Advisor upon submitting your application.
Prior to departure, you will select your preferred courses and take a language placement exam. If you choose to take a Spanish language or elective course at our partner institution, you will take another language placement exam on-site. Your final language level may be adjusted on-site. You will be enrolled into courses based on their availability. It is in your best interest to have multiple alternative courses approved by your home university prior to your departure due to course availabilities. To ensure that you receive credit for the language level you place into, have your home school pre-approve courses at several levels before you leave for Spain. Generally located downtown, these apartments cater to independent, do-it-yourself-type students who want to experience Seville just as the locals do. A homestay and apartment hybrid, this housing option enables you to sample the best of both worlds. Like a homestay, you’ll enjoy the personalized experience of a host who prepares meals, cleans, and interacts with you, yet does not live with you. Like an apartment, you’ll reside in independent living quarters where you can come and go as you please and live with other CEA CAPA or Spanish students.

Ideal for group of friends who want to live together in an international community. Live in a residential complex with CCTV security in the building and a 24/7 security presence. Each cluster includes 6 single rooms with A/C and ensuite bathrooms. All apartments include a fully- equipped kitchen and living room area. Students will have access to communal spaces - laundry room, fitness center, communal kitchen, additional study areas, cinema lounge, canteen, swimming pool, and roof top terrace.

Live in a modern residential complex with CCTV security in the building and a 24/7 security presence. Each unit includes a private room with A/C, shared kitchenette, and bathroom. All studios include desks, wardrobes, and a dining table. Students will have access to communal spaces- laundry room, fitness center, communal kitchen, additional study areas, cinema lounge, swimming pool, and roof top terrace.

Semester students are typically offered between two to three excursions and summer study students are typically offered between one to two excursions.
