This module examines the interplay between language and power through a focus on gender and language, and
ideological aspects of language use generally within the framework of Critical Discourse Analysis. Issues covered
include language and politics, globalization, language in education, the interaction between men and women in
mixed-sex conversations, same-sex talk and situations where women and men are talking in different settings and
at different life stages.
