DESCRIPTION

An introductory module to the principles and practice of object-oriented programming. Topics to be covered include: the syntax of the Java programming language, Fundamentals of the object-oriented paradigm: abstraction, inheritance, encapsulation and polymorphism, Object-oriented programming principles and practices, Unit testing, Problem-solving using object-oriented design principles and design patterns.

Learning Outcomes
1.understand the principles and practices of using object-oriented approach to solve programming problems
2.know how to program in the Java language using object-oriented principles to early intermediate level of competence
3.know how to integrate unit testing into his/her programming work flow
4.understand the rationale behind design patterns and how they can be used to solve commonly occurring programming challenges
5.be able to implement several design patterns in solutions to solve commonly occurring programming challenges
