DESCRIPTION
This module covers AC and DC electrical circuits by focusing on aspects circuit behaviour such as steady state behaviour, transient response, transfer functions, frequency response. The module also features an introduction to control systems.
Learning Outcomes 1. Predict the AC and DC steady-state responses of given circuit designs. 2. Use transfer functions to predict steady-state AC and DC responses of linear systems. 3. Sketch dynamic system responses from pole-zero maps. 4. Derive frequency-response characteristics from transfer functions. 5. Use measured frequency-response data to approximate transfer functions of ?black-box? systems. 6. Describe the principles and elements of feedback control systems, including specific reference to the design structure of a position-control servomechanism. 7. Construct and analyse block diagrams representing physical structures (including control systems). 8. Assess the stability of control systems 9. Construct, test and analyse electronic circuits in a laboratory, and report findings.
