DESCRIPTION

What is the secret meaning of Leonardo's "Last Supper" and the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel? What is the myth behind the haunting of the Colosseum? Who was part of the roaring crowds of Circus Maximus and where was Caesar murdered? The Angels, Demons and Artists in Rome course examines the cryptic messages of art and architecture in Rome. The course is taught entirely onsite at famous monuments such as Piazza Navona and the Four Rivers Fountain, the Pantheon, the Colosseum and the Vatican Museums. Students will creep into crypts, learn about mystical symbols and conspiracies and interpret clues that lead to bizarre discoveries and encounters in Rome. We will discuss the influence of politicians and artists like Julius Caesar, Isaac Newton, Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo and decipher the power of images and influence of secret societies like Opus Dei in Rome's politics.
