DESCRIPTION
This course will introduce you to the exciting and creative world of making things that make money. The world of new product development has changed considerably in the past decade. In the past, high upfront costs drove development methodologies that minimized risk. Today, with much of new product development moving to software, services and virtual products, the emphasis has fundamentally switched to speed-to-market, and an in-depth understanding of what customers value and “fail fast” methodologies. Product lifecycles have compressed and companies that win develop the capabilities of using more real-time data to read changes in the market faster and continual development cycles. This course aims to provide students with hands-on, real-world product development exposure by exploring leading concepts and giving students the opportunity to apply what they have learned in a team.
