DESCRIPTION
Course explores the intense relationship between the French and their past. Over the last twenty years, the French have unceasingly revisited their own past through a critical perspective, with a sense of repentence and guilt. For some, it has been an opportunity to rewrite the national narrative, giving voice to minorities, rethinking collective heritage and renegotiating national identity. Typically includes field studies in the region.
