DESCRIPTION
This course is an introduction to French literature from the Middle Ages to the present day. The course will focus on the major literary movements and genres, including poetry, novels, theater, short stories, epistolary novels and autobiography. Students will read and analyze texts from different periods, as well as study their historical and cultural contexts. Through close readings of extracts from these primary texts, students will develop their critical thinking and analytic al skills while exploring the historical, social, and cultural contexts of the works studied. The course will be conducted in French, and students are expected to participate actively in class discussions.
