DESCRIPTION
Understanding how French functions in current daily practices is the main focus of this course. We will be particularly interested in the different levels of linguistic analysis of French by reviewing the following areas: Morphology: - How are words constructed in French? - With what types of particles can we modify the meaning of a word or its syntactic class? - Semantics: identifying the relationship between form and representation in words. Discuss the different lexical relationships used by French. - Semiotics: how to interpret signs through culture and social practices - Pragmatics: How to construct meaning beyond words?
This course therefore aims to take advantage of the opportunity of linguistic and cultural immersion (and all the possibilities for direct observations and investigations that it represents) in Aix-en-Provence to develop speaking skills.
