Prerequisites: Fashion design 1 or equivalent course. This is an intermediate drawing course, so basic drawing skills and a general knowledge of the fashion world are required to enter the course.
Required Supplies: During orientation, students will receive a list of textbooks they are required to purchase. Students will be expected to provide their own supplies from a supply list. Instructors will supply the lists during the first week of classes. Students should not purchase any texts and/or supplies before orientation.
DESCRIPTION
Throughout the semester, students in this class will be involved in the study of different categories of the fashion market. These include menswear, accessories, active sportswear, high fashion-haute couture, jeanswear and how to do sketches in relation to such classifications. Importance will be given to creativity and development of a personal style as well as the improvement of technical skills such as technical drawings and spec-sheets. Students will learn how to use different coloring and rendering techniques using markers, color pencils as well as water colors. These techniques will be applied to artistic sketches that are frequently used in fashion illustration. When evaluating class projects and exams aspects like drawing skills, personal creativity, trend awareness, aesthetics of presentation, effort and improvement, add well as attendance will be taken into consideration.
