DESCRIPTION
This course will examine the history of the Italian Renaissance from its origins in the 14th Century. Students will be guided through the political, economic and social issues that determined the rupture between two main historical eras: the Middle Ages and Modern times. The most important authors of the period will be read and discussed in class as a means to have a direct understanding of the protagonists and eyewitnesses of that extraordinary time. Students will learn how to read and understand the philosophers, poets and statesmen who have forever changed - between the 14th and 16th Centuries - Western civilization.
