DESCRIPTION

This course is intended to introduce students to the significance of Spain's rich history and culture while exploring important political, economic, and social issues that influence Spain today. The course will cover Spain's important monuments, painters, writers, politicians, customs, holidays, current issues, cinema, and music. Students will also learn about the origin of the European Union, Spain's relationship to the United States, Spain's unique cultural traditions, the role of religion in Spain and the Mediterranean diet. Andalusian specific topics, such as flamenco, folklore and gypsies, will also be discussed.
